Who We Help

SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT FOR ADULTS

You don’t have to reach a breaking point to deserve support.

GR Care serves adults ages 18 and older in a co-ed residential setting in Oroville, California. People come to treatment with different histories, different responsibilities, and different reasons for wanting life to change. Some are asking for help for the first time. Others are looking for a new direction after an earlier treatment experience or a return to substance use.

You don’t need the perfect words for what’s happening. A conversation can begin with what you’ve noticed, what concerns you, and what you’d like to be different.

WHEN LIFE IS STILL MOVING, BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE

You may still be working, caring for family, or meeting the expectations other people see. At the same time, you might be spending more energy managing substance use, recovering from it, or keeping it hidden. You may notice tension at home, difficulty following through, or less room for the things that used to matter.

Those concerns are worth discussing. You don’t have to compare your experience with someone else’s or wait for a particular consequence. Assessment is a way to understand your needs and consider an appropriate level of support.

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME CONSIDERING TREATMENT

The unknown can make residential care feel like a big step. What will the days be like? Who will you live with? What happens to your phone, your job, or your family responsibilities?

We want you to have a clear picture before you arrive. Our Residential page explains the treatment experience and everyday considerations, while Admissions & Insurance walks through the process. You can bring questions about your own situation to the admissions conversation, including concerns that make it hard to take the next step.

IF YOU’VE BEEN IN TREATMENT BEFORE

A previous experience can tell us a great deal. Perhaps you learned useful skills but struggled to use them at home. Perhaps the approach didn’t connect with you, or an important part of your life never felt fully addressed.

We’re interested in that history. GR Care combines clinical work with experiential learning, mindfulness, connection, and practical planning. We’ll explore what you want to build on and where you need a different kind of support. Having tried before doesn’t mean your questions or hopes matter any less now.

WHEN SUBSTANCE USE IS CONNECTED TO OTHER STRUGGLES

Stress, painful experiences, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress may be part of the picture you bring to treatment. Our whole-person approach creates room to discuss these experiences and how they relate to substance use.

The assessment process also looks at mental health and medical needs so the team can determine whether our setting is appropriate. Some needs require additional services or a different level of care. Clear information about diagnoses, medications, current symptoms, and other providers helps make that decision more useful.

FOR PEOPLE BALANCING CAREERS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Worry about a job, a business, or family obligations can delay a decision to seek care. Those responsibilities deserve practical attention. Discuss essential commitments early so the team can explore what can be addressed within the treatment plan.

Support may include FMLA-related documentation and, when clinically appropriate, limited supervised technology access for legitimate work responsibilities. Arrangements depend on individual needs and program guidelines. Treatment still needs protected time and attention, and work access isn’t unrestricted.

FOR FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES

You may be unsure whether to raise your concerns again, how to describe what you’re seeing, or what help is available. You can contact GR Care to learn about treatment without having every answer yourself.

It can help to describe specific changes you’ve noticed and what you’re concerned about, rather than trying to find the right label for the person. Our team can explain the admissions process and discuss possible next steps. Involvement during treatment depends on the client’s consent, clinical needs, and program policies.

FOR PROFESSIONALS MAKING A REFERRAL

We welcome inquiries from therapists, medical professionals, interventionists, and other referral partners exploring residential substance use care for an adult. A useful referral conversation considers current substance use, withdrawal risk, medical and mental health needs, medications, prior care, and practical transition needs.

Contact admissions for the appropriate referral process and a secure way to share records. We don’t share clinical information through a general website form or ordinary email and ask you to follow that same guidance.

FINDING AN APPROPRIATE FIT

GR Care’s active, experiential approach includes opportunities for movement and outdoor participation. Tell us about accessibility needs, health concerns, or accommodations you may need so these can be considered individually. Suitability is based on the care and support required, rather than assumptions about what a person can do.

If you’re wondering whether GR Care could be right for you or someone you care about, start there. We can help you understand what information is needed to explore that question.
